But if you are bored with the old-fashioned way of dyeing eggs, I will suggest you an extremely easy and amazing idea – colouring Easter eggs with old silk ties.

You Will Need:

  • Pieces of old silk ties (or shirts, or scarves);
  • Scissors;
  • Cotton cloth;
  • Thread or soft wire;

Instructions:

  1. Cut the ties and remove the lining, until there is only silk left.
  2. Cut the silk into pieces, big enough to cover one egg.
  3. Wrap the Easter egg and leave the front of the fabric outside.

  4. Tighten as much as possible, but be careful not to break the egg. The tighter the silk, the better the dye effect.
  5. Now wrap the tied egg with the cotton cloth. An old pillowcase will be ideal for this procedure.tie-dye-easter-eggs-3
  6. Tie the egg with a thread or soft wire.
  7. Put the eggs in a pot and cover them with water.
  8. Add a quarter cup of vinegar and let them boil for 20 minutes.
  9. After that take the eggs out and arrange them on a towel to dry and cool down.
  10. Untie the Easter eggs and enjoy their colourful and joyful shells.

Additional Tips:

To guarantee the perfect dyeing of the egg shells, you will need high quality fabric. Therefore, make sure that the one you will use is not polyester or another synthetic fabric. You can usually find this information on the label of the tie or scarf.

If you don’t have old silk ties, you can easily find such in a local outlet store. In this way the Easter dyeing won’t cost you a fortune.

When you decide what ties to choose, go for dark colours. Navy, purple and red are the best choice. Ties decorated with small shapes can also be useful, because they will print on the egg and make it look extraordinary.

Happy Easter!

But it’s easy to get confused and lost in the sea of different styles and options. I’m going to present you 4 of the most popular kitchen styles and I hope that you will find your best match among them.

Country Kitchen

Some may perceive this kitchen style as old-fashioned, but the truth is that it combines the best features of the country style and contemporary functionality. The modern appliances are comfortably set in the wooden cabinets, trying not to grab the attention, because the accent in the country kitchen are the details. You will find yourself surrounded by amazing colour schemes such as green and blue, green and white, blue and yellow or earth tones. The basic material is wood, which is often combined with stone as a decorative element.

The utensils can be placed on a wooden hanger, similar to that for clothes. In the country kitchen you can find a whole arsenal of fresh herbs, arranged near the window. Close to the oven there may be a cork board, covered with different recipes, cut out of magazines and newspapers.

Top 3 decorating elements for a country kitchen:

  • fruit basket
  • old clock
  • framed catchy phrase

Kitchen for Romantics

romantics-kitchen-1

The kitchen for romantics is extremely cosy and welcoming. It is painted in pastel colours – mostly pink hues, combined with white and floral motives. But if you are not a big fan of pink, you can choose light blue, yellow or pale violet hues.

In the romantics’ kitchen every item matches the others and has its own place. The pillows on the chairs match the colour of the tablecloth or the curtains. The cups and plates are arranged in a cupboard, forming a colourful palette of hues and shapes. There is a jug on the table, instead of a vase, filled with seasonal flowers. On the walls you can find a painting or a photograph with a vintage frame.

Top 3 decorating elements for a romantics’ kitchen:

  • colourful cups and plates
  • porcelain
  • flowers

Chef’s Kitchen

In chef’s kitchen everything to the last detail is nifty. All items are in the right place and can be easily found even during the most intense cooking phase. In this kitchen there is no need to create a certain mood with colours, because the great atmosphere is a result of the delicious meals and the process of preparing them. Usually the keynotes are black or grey hues, softened with white accents. The dominating materials are ceramics, glass, steel and solid wood.

There are all kinds of modern appliances in this kitchen, which can be very useful and helpful for the chef. The kitchen counter is clean and empty, so the chef can have more space for creating delicious masterpieces.

Top 3 decorating elements for the chef’s kitchen:

  • multifunctional kitchen robot
  • bottles of good wine
  • white dinner set

Modern Kitchen

The modern kitchen is sassy, with a slight touch of chaos. You will recognize this type of kitchen by the notable and unusual colours, such as red, purple, green. You can combine them with light walls and counter tops, so the bright colour will stand out even better. The table and chairs represent the latest interior design trends.

You can notice a flower in a pot or another decorative element in one of the corners, so the kitchen doesn’t look too sterile. Unlike the chef’s kitchen, here the kitchen counter isn’t empty. On the contrary, there you will find a set of herbs, utensils put in a cup, sticky notes with the grocery list, etc.

Top 3 decorating elements for the modern kitchen:

  • contemporary coffee machine
  • bar counter with at least 2 chair near it
  • magnetic knife stand

It’s not necessary to choose only one kitchen style, you may combine features from the different types and design a kitchen, which matches your individuality. Valentines in a Cup https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/valentines-in-a-cup/ https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/valentines-in-a-cup/#comments Mon, 04 Feb 2013 13:32:33 +0000 https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/?p=2331 Continue reading ]]> Nothing makes people closer than a long conversation over a hot cup of coffee or tea. And several sugar hearts in the beverage will add at least one more smile to your day. Just imagine the happiness on the face of your loved one, when he or she sees the floating little hearts in the favourite cup. And you can show your love with this sweet gesture not only on Valentine’s Day, but every weekend when you decide to prepare breakfast in bed for your soul mate.valentines-in-cup

So if you want to surprise the beloved person, here is how to make these cute little hearts.

Products:

  • 1 egg (you’ll need just the white)
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2-3 drops of red confectionery paint

Instructions:

  1. Beat the white of the egg with the sugar, until the mixture is so thick, that even if you turn the bowl upside down nothing will drop.
  2. Add a few drops of the confectionery paint and mix it well, so the colour distributes evenly.
  3. Make a small cornet out of paper and cut a thin hole on its end. Put the mixture in it.
  4. Cover a pan with baking paper and start drawing the hearts with the cornet.
  5. Bake the shapes at 90 degrees Celsius with ventilation on. When the hearts are ready, take them out of the oven and let them cool for a while. Be careful when you remove the hearts from the baking paper, because they are very thin and fragile.

Additional Tips:

Save the baking paper for later, because it will be coloured with red heart-shaped outlines. You can use it for gift wrapping or for the making of a greeting card.

Sprinkle the hot coffee or milk with several sugar hearts – the coffee becomes sweeter, the milk turns slightly pink. It’s like all your love is gathered in just one cup.

Who needs expensive gifts for Valentine’s Day, when this simple gesture says “I love you” much better?

Feng Shui Tips for the Office https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/feng-shui-tips-for-the-office/ https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/feng-shui-tips-for-the-office/#comments Wed, 12 Dec 2012 14:11:59 +0000 https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/?p=1814 Continue reading ]]> feng-shui-officeAre you productive in your office? Do you have enough energy to deal with your daily tasks? Do you have a successful business?

The answer to these questions can turn from “No” to “Yes” by using several basic feng shui techniques. They will make your workspace a pleasant place to be, no matter where your office is located – in a commercial building or a cubicle.

An office no longer consists only of a desk and a chair. You are surrounded by all kinds of new technology, but you shouldn’t allow this high-tech world take over your office. Therefore, you should integrate simple energy and feng shui requirements, which will be the balance force of the technologies.

Wonder how to achieve this? Let me help you by providing these basic feng shui tips for your office:

Start with the entrance

The entrance to your office is one of the most important areas, because it not only is the entrance to your productivity and creativity, but it also affects your business relations with existing or potential clients. Remove any clutter, so a person can easily walk through it. The good illumination is essential, as well as the presence of green plants or colourful flowers. Keep the entrance and the whole office clean at any time, because the tidiness makes a great impression on a newcomer. If you are not able to handle this task by yourself, you can always find an office cleaning company in London to help you with it.feng-shui-office-2

Colouring the walls

You may not realize it, but the paint you choose for your office walls can have a really big impact on the work being done inside. You should match the paint colour with your type of business. For example sales offices should be in soft earth tones and medical offices – in light shades of blue or green. It is a common delusion that white walls create calm environment, on the contrary – they increase the stress and can lead to dissatisfied clients or scared patients.

Decorating with art

To be more motivated to work, you can hang couple of posters with inspiring thoughts or a photo of a person, who you perceive as a good example. You can also display statements of your personal or team achievements – frame and place them where you can see them every day, so they will remind of your success and motivate you for future winnings.
If you want to put family photos on your desk, you’d better reduce them to minimum, so you won’t get too distracted. Make sure to put the photograph on the south-west corner of your desk to energize the relationship with the people from the photo.
Adding a small decorative fountain is also a good idea, because the sound of running fresh water calms the atmosphere and reminds of nature.

What Does This Yellow Box Do? https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/what-does-this-yellow-box-do/ https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/what-does-this-yellow-box-do/#comments Tue, 06 Nov 2012 08:41:45 +0000 https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/?p=1597 Continue reading ]]> At first sight, this yellow box looks like an ordinary European pallet and you can’t even imagine what it stores inside. It’s only 90 cm high but it contains a full set of room furniture, which can be assembled in just several minutes without any tools. Sounds unbelievable, right? Check the photos in the article to see that it’s actually true.

The name of this box is Casulo and it was designed by two Germans – Marcel Krings and Sebastian Mühlhäuser as their graduation project. Their main goal was to create something that helps the modern person be more flexible and mobile. Therefore, they designed a room, which fits in a box with width of 80cm, length of 120 cm and height of 90cm. Casulo can be easily transported and stored, which makes it the perfect solution for people who relocate very often and who are tired of moving services. Only two people are needed for lifting up and carrying the unit.

Now, let’s have a look what’s inside this mysterious box. Each unit contains the following items:

  • wardrobe
  • large table with surface of 80cm by 160cm
  • separate desk cabinet with drawers
  • single bed with dimensions 200cm by 80 cm
  • mattress
  • height-adjustable chair
  • two stools
  • tall set of shelves

These pieces of furniture can be easily assembled by one of two people without needing any additional tools. Casulo is made from strong materials and even after numerous moves, there will be no signs of wear and tear. When dissembled, the box doesn’t require extra packaging and its size makes if perfect for storing or transporting.

Casulo is truly the perfect solution for individuals who change their location frequently and who are tired of moving home. This unit makes the process really efficient, inexpensive and easy. One can save a lot of money from moving home services and London upholstery cleaning services.

The only bad thing about Casulo is that it’s still just a concept. We can cross our fingers and hope that soon the designers will begin to produce and sell it to customers.
