First to clarify what I will be talking about at the beginning, I won’t be telling you about sponges and mops, I’ll underline some unusual products which can easily replace the commercial detergents most of us use on a daily basis. I’ll also give you a ton of recipes involving these ingredients so you’ll be able to clean everything from windows to carpets and upholstery. I hope I got your attention and I also hope this article can help you get rid of the dangerous chemicals most commercial cleaners contain.

Common Household Ingredients

DIY-cleaningEvery self-respecting green living home-maker should have in stock plenty of white distilled vinegar and baking soda. Those two ingredients are essential for almost every homemade recipe, when I first decided to throw out my commercial detergents I was really surprised how well they work. Further on I’ll tell you some of my favourite recipes which I have gathered form all kinds of green cleaning blogs.

If you want to find even more all you have to do is Google green cleaning. In their basics most recipes are the same, the major difference are the proportions. Feel free to experiment and change every recipe so it can suit your needs better. Another important thing you’ll need in order to prepare toxic free cleaning solutions is hydrogen peroxide. It is greatly underestimated and not many people see it as a cleaner.

I can assure you once you understand all its wonderful properties you’ll forget about bleach. Here is a presentation I found, it describes how you can use hydrogen peroxide. To be honest with you I haven’t tried them yet but I’ll tell you about some recipes which involve this ingredient later on. Continuing with another thing you need for your green detergents – lemons and other citrus fruits. The acids in those fruits have antibacterial qualities and can remove some stains and disinfect the area.

Last but not least is the final ingredient I would like to tell you about – essential oil, although it has antibacterial qualities people use it to make air-fresheners. I’ll tell you my version of homemade air-freshener it is way better than any commercial one I have ever tried. Enough small talk, I’ll start with the recipes and the first one is for removing liquid and solid stains form carpets, rugs, upholstery and most fabrics.

The Power Of Baking Soda

baking-sodaMuch has been said regarding this almost magical substance and much more is going to be spoken about it. Nevertheless the properties of baking soda are well known by most housewives and it isn’t used only for cooking. A quick lesson in Chemistry – sodium bicarbonate is white solid crystal which is most commonly seen as white powder. It is alkaline and neutralizes acid, it also has highly absorbent qualities.

Next time you spill something on your rug – coffee, juice, wine, etc. after absorbing as much as possible with a towel apply baking soda. Leave it to completely dry for about an hour or two and then thoroughly vacuum the area. You’ll be more than surprised when you see that the stain is fully removed. Baking soda is also used for preparing a homemade toothpaste. Some people say their teeth are whiter but I have heard that continuous use can peel the enamel.

All Hail The Almighty Vinegar

vinegarNext on our list is the vinegar, some people love it others can’t stand its smell and taste but no one can deny its qualities. If you check Wikipedia you’ll see that vinegar is the most available mild acid on the market and also a wonderful cleaner. Vinegar can dissolve mineral deposits form smooth surfaces such as glass and metal, it also has antibacterial qualities. You can use it to eliminate odour, believe it or not once the surface is dry the smell of vinegar disappears.

Use it in 1:1 proportion an you have a wonderful window and floor cleaner, be careful not to use it on waxed flooring because it will remove the layer. Diluted with water, vinegar can be used to remove stains form carpets and rugs. Combined with baking soda vinegar can be used to unplug drains, you pour the soda first and then add vinegar. After ten minutes flush with hot water and you’re done.

The Bubbling Hydrogen Peroxide

HPI will lie if I told you this is not my favourite cleaner because it is. Aside form its antibacterial qualities it is the perfect substitute for bleach. Hydrogen peroxide contains two atoms hydrogen and two oxygen. It is mostly used in medicine to disinfect open wounds, once it comes in contact with blood it starts to boil and stops bleeding. It also has bleaching properties – removing tough stains and whitening fabric but it doesn’t damage them.

And the best thing about it is that once it gets exposed under sunlight it becomes plain water, no residue not need for rinsing. You can use it directly onto the stain or in a paste-like combination with baking soda. Either way it will do the job. I hope you liked the recipes and throw out most of your potentially dangerous cleaning solutions. Of course those recipes are for general cleaning, if you want to have a sparkling clean germ-free home contact a professional cleaning company.

Of course, the easiest way to deal with this situation is to contact a company that provides domestic cleaning services in Belgravia, for exampleand forget all your worries. On the other hand, if you decide that you can handle the situation on your own, and if you think that you are skilled enough, then here are some tips on what to do.

#0. Before You Begin The Cleaning Procedure

Removing the waxy build up can be an intense process. Also, there are all sorts of laminate and it is good to know which one is yours. In most cases, the cleaning tips we will share with you are safe but it would be wise to always test before you dive into thorough cleaning.

#1. You Will Need The Following Things:
– a plastic wind-shield ice-remover
– some vinegar (white will do just fine)
– warm water
– a bucket
– and some old rags (it would best if they are white).

#2. Start Cleaning

If the waxy build up is thick, then you’ll need to remove it using the wind-shield ice-remover. Only then you can proceed with the deep cleaning procedure. The wind-shield ice-remover is the perfect tool for this job. Using a blunt knife on the other hand might result in some unwanted scratches. To remove the wax faster, you can heat it up a little bit with your hair dryer. After you’ve removed most of the waxy substance, you can engage in a deeper cleaning procedure.

#3. Deep Cleaning – Prepare a Cleaning Solution

Combine one gallon of warm water with two or three cups of white vinegar. Dampen a sponge or a clean cloth and start wiping the laminate flooring. Work in one direction and always in straight lines.

Rinse the cloth often and keep scrubbing – eventually, your laminate floor will be as clean as it can get. If you have any troubles with this cleaning procedure do not hesitate to contact the expert domestic cleaners in London. Keep in mind that it is always better to prevent a disaster, than to deal with the consequences. When you’re done with the cleaning, mop up your laminate floor and enjoy its cleanliness.

Until next time! ~ : )

Six Advantages Of Adopting Senior Dogs https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/six-advantages-of-adopting-senior-dogs/ https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/six-advantages-of-adopting-senior-dogs/#respond Sat, 13 Apr 2013 14:31:01 +0000 https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/?p=2580 Continue reading ]]> DOG-1

Most people prefer to adopt puppies instead of senior dogs. However adopting senior dogs has its advantages just as well.

1. They cost less – due to the fact that senior dogs are rarely adopted most animal shelters charge symbolic fees for their adoption.
2. They require less care – puppies have to be trained while senior dogs have already formed their habits. This means that the dog can take care of itself and that you won’t have to invest time into its training.
3. They provide companionship – senior dogs are very loyal to their owners. Even more according to various studies senior dogs understand the loneliness of their masters and strive to make them happier by providing them with selfless friendship.
4. They help you deal with the fear of letting go – most people are afraid to adopt a senior dog because they know that after a short while the dog will pass away. The thing that these people don’t realize is that senior dogs can still give a lot of memories to their owners. Even more by adopting senior dogs people learn to deal with lost more easily.
5. They walk slowly – young dogs tend to run around like crazy and make the daily walks a total nightmare at times. On the other hand senior dogs walk slow and steady. This allows you to enjoy a nice walk in the park with your pet.
6. They create less mess – dogs can create quite a mess especially when they are young. On the other hand senior dogs pass the most part of their days lying on the carpet and napping. This means that the only feature of your home which gets dirty is the carpet. You can easily clean your carpet by using rug cleaning machines. You can get quality rug cleaning machines form any hardware store in your area.

Dry Or Wet Carpet Cleaning? https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/dry-or-wet-carpet-cleaning/ https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/dry-or-wet-carpet-cleaning/#respond Tue, 08 Jan 2013 09:39:30 +0000 https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/?p=1810 Continue reading ]]> If you want to extend your carpet’s useful lifespan, you should take good care for it. That means not only weekly vacuuming, but also deep cleaning at least twice a year. I would suggest hiring a cleaning technician, but I assume you’re one of those DIY homeowners.

Wet or Dry CleaningIf this is your first time, you should conduct a little research, about which cleaning method is better. Which is better is still unknown. There are still discussions and the truth is both methods have their advantages and disadvantages.

I’ll try to explain the methods and let you decide for yourself which one is better for you. Consider what material is used for manufacturing, thickness, amount of traffic, stain resistance, type of padding, flooring beneath, coloration. Knowing these things is the difference between a successful cleaning and buying a new carpet.

Dry Carpet Cleaning

There are three types of dry cleaning, dry powder, bonnet and dry foam cleaning. A few words are in order I think, so you can have a basic idea. The main advantage is there is no drying time, you can walk straight after you’re finished. Some experts think it is not as effective as wet cleaning though.

  1. Dry Powder Cleaning. As the name implies a compound of powdered corncobs and cleaning solution. After the powder is sprinkled on the carpet a special machine scrubs it into the fibers. Soft brush is used, so no damage is dealt to it. The powder has the ability to attract dust and grime and after it has done it’s job you just vacuum it. Simple isn’t it?
  2. Bonnet Cleaning. Not exactly dry, because carbonated water is used, but who am I to argue with the professionals. So you take cleaning solution, carbonated water, special rotating buffer and get to work. The CO2 helps lifting the dirt, but it provides only surface cleaning.
  3. Which leads us to Dry Foam Cleaning. The detergent is like shaving cream. It forms small bubbles, which remove any dirt. A cleaning machine is used, in order for the foam to penetrate deep into the fibers, dissolving any grime. Much like shaving cream the bubbles disappear, leaving you with the only task of vacuuming.

Wet Carpet Cleaning

When we’re talking about deep cleaning you should consider one of these methods of wet cleaning. It is a bit dangerous if you decide to DIY, but it’s worth the risk. The worst you can do is over wet or over shampoo your carpet, and at the end throw it away. So I present you steam cleaning and shampooing.

  1. Steam Cleaning. Also known as hot water extraction. There is no steam involved in the process, just hot water and cleaning agent injected under high pressure. The dirty compound is then sucked back in. the disadvantage is you can easily over wet the carpet, creating the perfect habitat for mold. If done properly, it is the most effective of all.
  2. Some consider this method dust in the eyes, because the shampoo is a mixture of brighteners, deodorizes and cleaning agents. It is just like shampooing your hair, bur cleaning machine is used to agitate the compound. After some scrubbing the shampoo is vacuumed.

So here are all the techniques, professionals use. Choose wisely. If you think you can deal with such machinery go ahead. But if you live in Wandsworth SW18 and don’t want to risk ruining your favorite carpet I recommend you seek company’s offering professional services on lowest rates.

Synthetic Grass Cleaning https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/synthetic-grass-cleaning/ https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/synthetic-grass-cleaning/#respond Wed, 02 Jan 2013 08:34:43 +0000 https://www.londonlocalservices.co.uk/?p=1961 Continue reading ]]> grassToday, many of us try to stay in fit and put a lot of efforts in that. The reason why this may be a hard thing, which it is, is the way we live. These days it is a normal thing to stay in front of the computer for more than 5 hours a day and to move very little. This causes a lot of troubles for our health and many of us try to avoid the bad consequences. Therefore many people do sports – both indoors and outdoors. However, the maintenance of the fields where we all practice is a hard job, so here are some tips and ways to clean them.

If you train on a field with artificial grass you may need to know that this kind of surface, even being plastic, can be cleaned and maintained properly if the owner wants that.

There are special machines which can be purchased which can do all the job at once. of course, their prices are not very low but the quality achieved with them is significant.

grass2The first thing these special machines do is to clean the whole area well. They vacuum all the residues and cut well some of the grass.

After that, the machine recycles the material that was vacuum and fixes it thanks to a modern and innovative technology and applies a new layer on the surface. This way, the machine actually renovates the whole terrain in a great way.

Such procedures can be performed every week or twice a week if the terrain is used a lot but if not, cleaning in this way can be made twice in a year.

Cleaning such surface alone is a hard job but not impossible. Of course, in the very beginning you should know that achieving results that are even close to the one achieved by the machine will be hard if not almost impossible. But nothing stops you from trying.

Vacuum the whole stadium first. You will see that some of the surface is falling away. A lot of rubber, small balls will be cleaned this way.

Some places may be damaged, so you can replace them with new ones.

Tip( if the piece of material that you intend to change the very old one is completely new or different, this will have impact on the way the terrain feels and some of the clients will not be happy about that. if the grass there is too high, the ball will stop and this will make the play hard and less fun. So, do the changes only if you are sure that you can do the things better.)

Some cleaners in Highgate like these can also be helpful in the job. They can clean the place several time in a month which will guarantee you the best possible condition for the money. These guys will also give you some tips on how to clean on your own, when this is needed.

So, thanks to cleaners Highgate professionals and professional sportsmen, maintaining synthetic grass field should not be as hard as it may sound.
